On the road to Charleston, SC

Moving Day - finally here.  The journey from Houston to Charleston was mapped via the southern or I-10 route as I wanted to drive along the gulf coast with hopes of seeing water and capturing some 'blues' along the way.  We weren't going to go as far north as the real Mississippi Delta but I was channeling my own Graceland.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvliMzAFWHM

First, Packing, Packing, Packing, all day (12 hours - 7 men) on Sunday June 28, 2015

Truck was finally loaded, said last goodbye's to the neighbors and friends and then Sue and I had our final dinner in Houston at Goode's Barbeque before setting off.

(sampling of the menu)

The major cities we drove through were:
Houston, TX
Beaumont, TX
Lake Charles, LA (where we spent our first night)
Lafayette, LA
Baton Rouge, LA
Slidell, LA
Gulfport, MS
Pascagoula, MS (where we stopped and saw P J Doyle's office, got a small tour of the town and then had a fantastic shrimp Po' Boy sandwich  at Bozo's Market, AND got to hear a wonderful live musician play)

then on to
Mobile, AL
Evergreen, AL
Montgomery, AL (where we spent our 2nd night)

then
Auburn, AL
LaGrange, GA
Atlanta, GA
Augusta, GA
Orangeburg, SC and
Charleston, SC (where we arrived on Tuesday June 30th in the evening and spent the first night with Jake & Gina)

We covered 1,100 miles and took 15 hours and 57 minutes of driving time.  Now where's that darn moving van???
